Anonymous hacks Vietnam Government websites to protest against human rights abuse

VIETNAM GOVT WEBSITES BROUGHT DOWN BY ANONYMOUS TO PROTEST AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE

Members of the online hacktivist group, Anonymous, AntiSec and HagashTeam have hacked and defaced a number of Vietnamese government websites. Anonymous said that the hackings were done to protest against online censorship and human rights violations in the country.

In all 8 Vietnamese government websites were defaced by the hacktivist group. They left a deface page along with a message giving their statement against the imprisonment of thousands of political prisoners.

The message left by the Anonymous group says that that on occasion of 70th anniversary of independence, none of prisoners released by Vietnamese government were political prisoners. The Vietnamese government had released over 18,200 prisoners on the occasion of their independence day, however, Anonymous claim that none of them were political prisoners.
